Faubourg Brewery Taps Out
The Faubourg Brewery, which started in New Orleans in 1907 as the Dixie Brewery, has brewed its last Velvet Voodoo Lager,
JD's favorite beer from when it was known as Blackened Voodoo Lager. Saints owner Tom Benson bought the brewery nearly seven years
ago. But when he died, his wife Gale changed the name from Dixie to Faubourg (French for "neighborhood"). Following the annual
"Daze Between Festival," held on the brewery grounds in New Orleans East, the plug was pulled. Remaining inventory will be auctioned off in June,
2024. [5/21/2024]

Neil Young Returns to Spotify
Rock icon Neil Young is returning his music to streaming service Spotify. Young initially removed his music from the streaming service in January 2022 after accusing
the company of allowing comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan to freely use its platform to spread misinformation about the COVID vaccine. But Spotify gave up exclusive
rights to "The Joe Rogan Experience," allowing other music services like Apple, Amazon, Qobuz, and Tidal to distribute the Rogan podcast. Young decided he couldn't
also pull his music from all of those platforms. [3/13/2024]

Melanie of Woodstock Fame Dies at 76
Singer/songwriter Melanie Safka died Tuesday, January 22. Her breakthrough hit was Lay Down (Candles in the Rain), which she wrote about her experience
as a performer at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. Except in Greenwich Village folk music venues, she was virtually unknown when helicoptered into Max Yasgur's
farm in upstate New York for the concert. In 1971, she topped the carts with the childlike Brand New Key. Earlier in the month, she had been in a studio
working on her 32nd album, Second Hand Smoke. Her children requested that fans light candles and raise them high, high up again at 10 PM on January 24 in
rememberance. [1/24/2024]

Cancer Vaccine?
A cancer vaccine has been tested in hundreds of patients with advanced forms of melanoma in Phase 2 clinical trials. The most recent data presented at an academic
conference showed nearly 95% of people given only the vaccine were still alive three years after starting treatment and 64% were still disease-free. A larger Phase 3
clinical trial will have to ultimately validate if this cancer vaccine will truly be a game-changer in the field. “We've seen over and over again, promising Phase 2
data that didn't turn out to be so promising in Phase 3,” Dr. Vernon Sondak cautions. [1/21/2024]
