Sly Stone Dead at 82
Sly Stone of Sly & the Family Stone died June 9 at age 82. He was a San Francisco DJ turned pop and funk music innovator. He and his group had played at the iconic Woodstock Music Festival
in upstate New York 1in 1969, and was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. [6/10/2025]

He wasn't a founding member of the group Blondie, but he did join eventually in 1975, taking over for drummer Bill O'Connor. And he's heard on all of Blondie's albums from 1976 through 2017.

Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul, & Mary Dead at 86
Peter Yarrow, the tenor voice of folk trio Peter, Paul, & Mary died 1/7/2025 at his home in Manhattan, near where he was born in 1938. With the trio, he sang with Pete Seeger
and covered Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ In the Wind on the folk scene on Bleecker Street. They took John Denver’s Leavin’ on a Jet Plane to #1 in 1969. He was 86. [1/7/2025]
