Bonnie Tyler Dies After Surgery
Bonnie Tyler, the Grammy-nominated Welsh pop star best known for
singing the chart-topping power ballad Total Eclipse of the Heart in 1983 with
a voice akin to that of Rod Stewart, has died. She was 75. Doctors had induced a coma
while she attempted recovery from intestinal surgery.

Marrero Resident Wins National Pool Championship in Vegas
A Marrero man is $15,000 richer after a recent visit to Sin City. But his good fortune didn’t happen in the casino.
Travis Shipley won the 2026 APA 8-Ball Classic Pool Championship late last month in Las Vegas.
Shipley was amongst nearly 6,000 poolplayers throughout North America who attempted to qualify for the American Poolplayers Association’s (APA) 8-Ball Classic.
He was one of only 770 that advanced to the national finals at the Westgate Las Vegas. [5/13/2026]

Artemis II Puts 4 Astronauts Further from Earth than Ever
Reid Wiseman commanded the NASA Artemis II mission in a loop around the dark side of the Moon. The 5-day trip lanunched April 1, 2026 and returned on April 6. Wiseman is a 1997 graduate of JD's
alma mater, Rensselaer Polytechinc Institute. The essentially flawless mission brought along three other astronauts, inclucing a woman and a Canadian. NASA's lat trip to the Moon was Apllo 17 in 1972.
